CVE-2025-62416

CVE-2025-62416 is a medium-severity code injection vulnerability in bagisto/bagisto (composer), affecting versions <= 2.3.7. It is fixed in 2.3.8.

Summary

Bagisto v2.3.7 is vulnerable to Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI) due to unsanitized user input being processed by the server-side templating engine when rendering product descriptions. This allows an attacker with product creation privileges to inject arbitrary template expressions that are evaluated by the backend, potentially leading to Remote Code Execution (RCE) on the server.

Details

In Bagisto, product descriptions are rendered through Laravel’s Blade templating engine in various front-end and admin views. The product description field is not sanitized or escaped before being passed to the view, which means user-supplied data can break out of the expected string context and execute arbitrary template code.

PoC

Create a product and enter the payload to the description.

Preview the page, observed that the template expressions were evaluated by the backend and displayed on the screen.

Impact

RCE potential: Attackers can execute arbitrary PHP code or system commands.
Data breach: Read sensitive environment variables (.env), API keys, or database credentials.
Defacement / persistence: Inject malicious scripts or backdoors in dynamic templates.
Privilege escalation: If attackers have limited roles (e.g., product manager), they can compromise the entire application or host.

Untrusted input is evaluated as executable code within the application's runtime environment. Typical impact: arbitrary code execution within the application's privilege context.

CVE-2025-62416 has a CVSS score of 5.1 (Medium). The vector is network-reachable, high privileges required, and user interaction required. A CVSS score reflects the worst-case severity of the vulnerability, not your specific exposure. Whether this affects your application depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable in your environment. A fixed version is available (2.3.8); upgrading removes the vulnerable code path.

Kodem intelligence

Severity tells you how bad this could be in the worst case. It does not tell you whether you are exposed. Exploitability and impact are functions of runtime truth: whether the vulnerable code is present, reachable, and actually executes in your application. A vulnerable package can sit in your dependency tree and never run.

Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to reveal which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so teams prioritize the ones that genuinely matter. Kodem's runtime-powered SCA identifies whether this CVE is reachable in your applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is CVE-2025-62416? CVE-2025-62416 is a medium-severity code injection vulnerability in bagisto/bagisto (composer), affecting versions <= 2.3.7. It is fixed in 2.3.8. Untrusted input is evaluated as executable code within the application's runtime environment.
  2. How severe is CVE-2025-62416? CVE-2025-62416 has a CVSS score of 5.1 (Medium). This score reflects the worst-case severity of the vulnerability, not your specific exposure. Whether it represents real risk in your environment depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable.
  3. Which versions of bagisto/bagisto are affected by CVE-2025-62416? bagisto/bagisto (composer) versions <= 2.3.7 is affected.
  4. Is there a fix for CVE-2025-62416? Yes. CVE-2025-62416 is fixed in 2.3.8. Upgrade to this version or later.
  5. Is CVE-2025-62416 exploitable, and should I be worried? Whether CVE-2025-62416 is exploitable in your environment depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable. A CVSS score is a worst-case rating; it does not account for your specific deployment, configuration, or usage patterns. Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to show which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so you can focus on the ones that represent real risk. 6. What actually determines whether CVE-2025-62416 is exploitable, and how bad it is? Exploitability and impact are not fixed properties of a CVE. They depend on runtime truth: whether the vulnerable code is present, reachable, and actually executes in your application. A high CVSS score on a dependency that never runs is not the same as real risk. Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to reveal which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so teams prioritize the ones that genuinely matter.
  7. How do I fix CVE-2025-62416? Upgrade bagisto/bagisto to 2.3.8 or later.
