CVE-2026-22030

CVE-2026-22030 is a medium-severity cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in react-router (npm), affecting versions >= 7.0.0, <= 7.11.0. It is fixed in 7.12.0, 2.17.3.

Summary

React Router (or Remix v2) is vulnerable to CSRF attacks on document POST requests to UI routes when using server-side route action handlers in Framework Mode, or when using React Server Actions in the new unstable RSC modes.

[!NOTE]
This does not impact your application if you are using Declarative Mode (<BrowserRouter>) or Data Mode (createBrowserRouter/<RouterProvider>).

Impact

A victim's authenticated browser session is used to submit forged requests to an application that cannot distinguish them from legitimate ones. Typical impact: state-changing actions performed as the victim without their consent.

CVE-2026-22030 has a CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium). The vector is network-reachable, no privileges required, and user interaction required. A CVSS score reflects the worst-case severity of the vulnerability, not your specific exposure. Whether this affects your application depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable in your environment. A fixed version is available (7.12.0, 2.17.3); upgrading removes the vulnerable code path.

Affected versions

react-router (>= 7.0.0, <= 7.11.0) @remix-run/server-runtime (<= 2.17.2)

Security releases

react-router → 7.12.0 (npm) @remix-run/server-runtime → 2.17.3 (npm)

Kodem intelligence

Severity tells you how bad this could be in the worst case. It does not tell you whether you are exposed. Exploitability and impact are functions of runtime truth: whether the vulnerable code is present, reachable, and actually executes in your application. A vulnerable package can sit in your dependency tree and never run.

Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to reveal which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so teams prioritize the ones that genuinely matter. Kodem's runtime-powered SCA identifies whether this CVE is reachable in your applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is CVE-2026-22030? CVE-2026-22030 is a medium-severity cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in react-router (npm), affecting versions >= 7.0.0, <= 7.11.0. It is fixed in 7.12.0, 2.17.3. A victim's authenticated browser session is used to submit forged requests to an application that cannot distinguish them from legitimate ones.
  2. How severe is CVE-2026-22030? CVE-2026-22030 has a CVSS score of 6.5 (Medium). This score reflects the worst-case severity of the vulnerability, not your specific exposure. Whether it represents real risk in your environment depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable.
  3. Which packages are affected by CVE-2026-22030?
    • react-router (npm) (versions >= 7.0.0, <= 7.11.0)
    • @remix-run/server-runtime (npm) (versions <= 2.17.2)
  4. Is there a fix for CVE-2026-22030? Yes. CVE-2026-22030 is fixed in 7.12.0, 2.17.3. Upgrade to this version or later.
  5. Is CVE-2026-22030 exploitable, and should I be worried? Whether CVE-2026-22030 is exploitable in your environment depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable. A CVSS score is a worst-case rating; it does not account for your specific deployment, configuration, or usage patterns. Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to show which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so you can focus on the ones that represent real risk. 6. What actually determines whether CVE-2026-22030 is exploitable, and how bad it is? Exploitability and impact are not fixed properties of a CVE. They depend on runtime truth: whether the vulnerable code is present, reachable, and actually executes in your application. A high CVSS score on a dependency that never runs is not the same as real risk. Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to reveal which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so teams prioritize the ones that genuinely matter.
  7. How do I fix CVE-2026-22030?
    • Upgrade react-router to 7.12.0 or later
    • Upgrade @remix-run/server-runtime to 2.17.3 or later
