Summary

Contao: Improper access control in the preview links module

core-bundle/config/services.yaml registers the preview access voter with the class Contao\CoreBundle\Security\Voter\DataContainer\PreviewAccessVoter, but the class shipped on disk is named PreviewVoter. Symfony resolves the class with getReflectionClass($class, false), gets null, silently skips the interface based autoconfiguration that would have tagged it as a voter, and the now untagged private service is removed when the container is compiled. The application boots without a warning, and the ownership rule in PreviewVoter::hasAccess() is never executed. tl_preview_link has no compensating SQL filter on createdBy, so any non administrator back end user whose group holds the preview_link module reads every preview link on the installation and lifts the already signed share URLs straight out of the list. Following one grants front end preview of the target page, with showUnpublished and with no page permission check, to anyone at all.

Impact

A non administrator back end user reads every preview link on the installation, including links created by administrators, and lifts the already signed share URLs out of the list. Following one grants front end preview of the target page with showUnpublished and with no page permission check at all, so unpublished or embargoed content becomes readable by a user who has no rights on those pages, and by anyone that user forwards the URL to.

Honesty caveat, stated because it bounds the severity. UpdateAction on a record owned by someone else was denied in our lab by DcaPermissionVoter, so we do not claim that a foreign preview link can be edited or deleted.

The application does not perform an authorization check before performing a sensitive operation. Typical impact: unauthorized access to restricted functionality or data.

CVE-2026-107850 has a CVSS score of 4.3 (Medium). The vector is network-reachable, low privileges required, and no user interaction. A CVSS score reflects the worst-case severity of the vulnerability, not your specific exposure. Whether this affects your application depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable in your environment. A fixed version is available (5.7.12); upgrading removes the vulnerable code path.

Kodem intelligence

Severity tells you how bad this could be in the worst case. It does not tell you whether you are exposed. Exploitability and impact are functions of runtime truth: whether the vulnerable code is present, reachable, and actually executes in your application. A vulnerable package can sit in your dependency tree and never run.

Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to reveal which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so teams prioritize the ones that genuinely matter. Kodem's runtime-powered SCA identifies whether this CVE is reachable in your applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is CVE-2026-107850? CVE-2026-107850 is a medium-severity missing authorization vulnerability in contao/core-bundle (composer), affecting versions >= 5.7.1, < 5.7.12. It is fixed in 5.7.12. The application does not perform an authorization check before performing a sensitive operation.
  2. How severe is CVE-2026-107850? CVE-2026-107850 has a CVSS score of 4.3 (Medium). This score reflects the worst-case severity of the vulnerability, not your specific exposure. Whether it represents real risk in your environment depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable.
  3. Which versions of contao/core-bundle are affected by CVE-2026-107850? contao/core-bundle (composer) versions >= 5.7.1, < 5.7.12 is affected.
  4. Is there a fix for CVE-2026-107850? Yes. CVE-2026-107850 is fixed in 5.7.12. Upgrade to this version or later.
  5. Is CVE-2026-107850 exploitable, and should I be worried? Whether CVE-2026-107850 is exploitable in your environment depends on whether the vulnerable code is present and reachable. A CVSS score is a worst-case rating; it does not account for your specific deployment, configuration, or usage patterns. Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to show which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so you can focus on the ones that represent real risk. 6. What actually determines whether CVE-2026-107850 is exploitable, and how bad it is? Exploitability and impact are not fixed properties of a CVE. They depend on runtime truth: whether the vulnerable code is present, reachable, and actually executes in your application. A high CVSS score on a dependency that never runs is not the same as real risk. Kodem, an Intelligent Application Security platform, uses runtime intelligence to reveal which vulnerabilities actually execute in production, so teams prioritize the ones that genuinely matter.
  7. How do I fix CVE-2026-107850? Upgrade contao/core-bundle to 5.7.12 or later.
